Art Takes Times Square and the lowly artist

I participated in a fun project called  'Art Takes Times Square'!  Artists were called upon to create a profile and try to get collected (similiar to friending on Facebook).  If you got 'collected' 77+ times your art was to be shown on giant screens in Times Square and during an after party projected on the wall.  It sounded like fun.  This was all via a group called Artists Wanted  - I see that they are promoting another art show of some type called 'SELF' right now.

This is what the photots looked like on the screens.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to find my image in all the sea of videos and photos out there.  Most artists who attended concentrated on finding their own piece and didn't make it to the R's.  I know many on-line friends that found their artwork so I am confident that my piece was shown.  I just haven't found any video/photos of the RE's.  You can still see my profile on Artists wanted here: http://lynnereichhart.artistswanted.org/atts2012.  One of the paintings in my profile was projected in Times Square sometime between 8:45-9:15 estimated on June 18th!

Getting ready for the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy's!

For the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards~

VYCSS6FMUYA3
Here is my dining room table! What a mess!  I am offering my print 'Vancouver B.C.' for one of the several Emmy award gift bags in the Emmy gift lounge.   I am in the process of assembling 75 prints with foam board backing, business card, certificate of authenticity all slipped in a cello bag and then I apply my promo sticker!  I will also provide a framed copy for display purposes.

I am pretty excited being the TV geek that I am.  I once was on the bleachers on the red carpet arrivals for the Golden Globes.  That was before 9/11 and all you had to do was stay at the Beverly Hilton that night and you could reserve a spot.  Entertainment Tonight was set up right in front of us so we got a great view and lots of good pics.

But I digress.....  I will get a photo of a celebrity holding my item so that is pretty cool.  I am hoping that Vancouver will catch their eye since many shows film there nowadays.  Just another promo tool that I thought I would try.

Just Received My New Art Floral Business cards - great promotion!

I wanted to share my new business cards.  They are one of my free promotional gifts from Uprinting.com that I receive for hosting their giveaways.  Believe me,  I only do these because I am pleased with their products and customer service.

I have never had double sided cards before so I wasn't sure what to do with 2 sides.  I chose to feature my Iris on both sides since it is one of my more popular paintings.  I also love the modern size and vertical orientation.  I wanted to keep them simple so I chose 3 links to feature.  You can get to all my sites from my website anyway.  I am never sure whether to put my phone number on or not.  Again, you can contact me through my website and the other sites as well.

The cards are nice and sturdy with a semi-gloss finish.  I was so excited to receive them!  Thanks for looking and if you have suggestions or comments I would love to hear them!

My Art Plot

No, I am not preparing for my burial:)

This is a new idea in art promotion and sales. I was asked to join and write a review on my blog.

This is a site for art and crafters. Part social networking, part portfolio/sales. I like the simplicity of the site, both in presentation and use. This is a great site for beginners or those, like me, that don't want to spend time coding HTML.

This is the statement on the site itself 'This is MyArtPlot - one platform for all.
MAP is an essential part of any creative life. It brings together the art profession into one global point of contact and interaction. Social, professional, and commercial power thrive here. Everyday - artists, crafters, and supporters use MAP to interact with those around them and around the world. Most go by their real first and last names. MAP is functional to you as a paint brush is to a painter or a camera is to a photographer - it enables you. This is why people take ownership of their Plot (personal MAP page). '

The presentation is very clean and lets the art take center stage. It may be simple to use, but it does have some powerful features. I really like the automatic bi-weekly newsletters. Subscribers will receive automatic updates to your plot on a bi-weekly basis and you don't have to lift a finger.

A product called Banner is also available. Banner is a powerful marketing tool. When embedded across the internet, it becomes an ad for your Plot. When someone clicks on it, it will bring them to your Plot. The best thing is: Whenever you change your Plot's Banner, the change will automatically appear whereever the embedded code may sit! You can also track where your banners are embedded and see how many people have visited your Plot from there. To control, where your banner is embedded, you can disable or re-enable your banner from any of its location.

I can see this being a very powerful site if it can increase in popularity. The creators really seem to be behind it every step of the way. You can even talk to them personally via live chat using the Help feature.

The site is free with voluntary subscriptions available. There is a 5% commission on all sales that is mandatory of you don't have a subscription. I really see no reason not to give it a go at this early stage. You may be getting in on the ground floor of something revolutionary.

The down side is having one more place to keep current and update on a regular basis.
